You two look fantastic! I don’t know maybe less stress. More confidence in sailing. But you both look fit and trim too. Our plan is to retire at the end of this year. Hopefully we can join you in 2026!
Hi Kate! I love amber and single malt beers. Here is a link to an article about the brewery we went to in Boquete. https://sixlegswilltravel.com/boquete_brewing/ They said the water makes the difference in taste and they get theirs from the nearby Caldera river. The normal beers of Panama are Balboa, Atlas and Panama. They are nothing to write home about except that they are inexpensive. Balboa makes a dark beer which had the most flavor in my opinion. Thanks for asking!
Biggest trouble with beer from Mexico to Panama is that it’s almost uniformly light. Corona, Modelo, Victoria. Balboa kinda tastes like Olde English to me, but they have an “ice” version that’s cleaner and crisper. Occasionally there’s a brew pub or microbrewery, but it’s often lighter beers, and I like heavier maltier beers. They’re hard to drink in the heat though.

Thanks Wendy! That's very nice to hear! Also excited for you that you'll be retiring and could join us in 2026! Looking forward to it. :)
What are the beers of Panama like? Any favorites?

I figured that would be the case - every time I’m traveling to a hot place I’m looking for their token dark beer!
Tasting like Olde English is… um, a good warning. 😆
