I didn’t recognize the pace at which we were moving in our lives until this past week when we were sitting at anchor in a beautiful cove on the lee side of Carmen Island (East of Loreto) in the Sea of Cortez. The cove is just off Punta Colorado and it is nestled on the north end of San Francisco Bay, of all places. I felt time begin to open up and slow way down. I drew a deep breath as I sat facing the expansive sea, reflecting on things as the sun light glistened on the water.
Donna - learned about you from Charlie Allen at CYC and tracked down your blog. What a treat to read your posts! I wish you well through your surgery so that you may soon be back onboard. Anne
Hi Donna and Peter. I loved reading this Donna and found myself relaxing just imagining the life you have now created. Your choice to take a different path is so inspiring to me and might just remind me that I have a choice to slow down too. Sending you much love on your journey.
Hi Donna, I am Charlie Allen's daughter Leslie. My dad has told me all about you and Peter and your travels. I was transported by your piece and really felt the inner peace you have found on the boat. Definitely relatable! Thank you.
My fingers are crossed that you have much luck with your medical issue. I very much look forward to meeting you and Peter. Much love and caring Leslie
Thank you Rosemary! Always nice to hear from you. The sea is a beautiful place for sure no matter what boat you've on! Hope to see you again soon. Take care!
Really enjoyed reading your latest posting Donna, can totally relate to the part about slowing down, I felt much the same when we first moved to Hawaii, it was like living in a dream. Great reminder to do that again, as we've been endlessly busy reinventing our living situation yet again. The pictures look a amazing and so peaceful, I imagine it can't be this peaceful all the time. The inventor of the flopper stopper must have some seriously good karma. Big hug from from all of us. We sent a few baby whales your way to say hello :)
Hi Amit! So glad you enjoyed it and that slowing down is a good reminder for you. I'd really like to hear about your new living situation! I am sure it's a lot of work but I imagine it's really wonderful. Looking forward to catching up soon!
You're right, it's not always peaceful here. When the wind comes strong from the North, it's pretty cold and the sea is fierce! Luckily we have a safe harbor to retreat to when that happens. But when it's not blowing hard like that, it's really peaceful and beautiful here. We had a beautiful sail down to a very lovely anchorage this past week. More about that soon. Thanks for sending the baby whales our way! I bet it's lovely there with them in your waters. Take care! <3 Please give my love to Patricia and Evan!
Beautifully written, Donna. I particularly love how you said slowing down is "enabling me to take in the full experience of where I am." I love how at-one you are with your surroundings, getting to take in every sunrise and sunset, mountain view and pod of dolphins, as well as the storms and winds, which bring their challenges. Talk about self-sufficiency. I'm so proud of you two, and jealous but feeling lucky to get a glimpse into your lives like this.

Thank you Elinor. We’re happy we have a safe harbor for the really strong North winds! But it’s true. We are learning to be with it all!
